Browns to interview Josh McDaniels Friday

The Cleveland Browns are scheduled to interview New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday for their head coach position.

There is now a concrete timeline for the Cleveland Browns and their interview with Josh McDaniels. Cleveland will interview the Patriots offensive coordinator Friday.

As Albert Breer notes, this will take place after an interview with the New York Giants. There is some concern whether or not McDaniels will actually get to that interview. The Giants are going to push hard to make a deal with McDaniels. The fear here is that Cleveland won’t even get a chance to get the coach they covet.

Cleveland originally scheduled to interview Josh McDaniels on Friday, so the day does remain the same. However, the fact that the Patriots were eliminated and the Cowboys just hired Mike McCarthy seems like a situation where there would be a little more urgency. The last thing that the Browns need is to be left holding the bag with the leftover candidates. Cleveland needs to be in a position where they hire their first choice. The Browns cannot afford to take any chances when it comes to this coaching hire.

Hopefully Josh McDaniels will not take the job with the Giants. Jimmy and Dee Haslam love McDaniels and appears to be their top choice. The reports about Josh McDaniels state that he does not want to be part of a coaching pool. It seems that McDaniels wants to agree to a deal sooner rather than later. Waiting to hear that after interviewing additional candidates and he is their choice will not fly.

If Josh McDaniels still is available on Friday when he interviews with the Browns, they better not let him leave. Because this time could be their last chance to hire the man they’ve wanted for a long time.
