Browns sign Jon Toth, place Curtis Weaver on IR

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent center Jon Toth and placed recently acquired defensive end Curtis Weaver on injured reserve.

There were a couple of roster moves made by the Cleveland Browns Thursday. The team has signed center Jon Toth and placed defensive end Curtis Weaver on injured reserve.

Toth was signed due to JC Tretter undergoing a knee procedure earlier this month. The Browns need depth on the offensive line and opting to sign Toth may be an attempt to address this issue. Cleveland previously signed and waived Casey Dunn.

Curtis Weaver was claimed by Cleveland after being waived by Miami. Weaver was a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dolphins and was waived after suffering an injury. Miami was attempting to pass Weaver through waivers to place him on their practice squad. It did not work. The Browns essentially get a free fifth round pick they can stash in Curtis Weaver with the hope he can make an impact in 2021.
