Browns complete second interview with George Paton

The Cleveland Browns have completed their second interview with Minneosta Vikings assistant general manager Geroge Paton.

George Paton was in Cleveland Wednesday for his second interview with the Cleveland Browns about their open general manager position. Paton was in Cleveland this past weekend for his first interview.

Paton’s second interview with the team has now concluded.

George Paton will now head back to Minnesota as the Browns continue to mull over their options.

Cleveland has narrowed their search down to three candidates. George Paton, Andrew Berry, and Monti Ossenfort. The favorites appear to be Paton and Berry. There is a similar reason for why both are considered to be favorites. Familiarity.

Paton spent quite a bit of time with Kevin Stefanksi in Minnesota. That has to play a factor in the Browns search for alignment. Paton has been credited with some of the Vikings success in the draft and that could be what the Browns are looking at when considering Paton. Success in the draft and not relying on free agency.

Andrew Berry was in Cleveland in previously and that can work for them and against them at the same time. There is familiarity between the Browns and Berry due to their previous relationship. That also means that Berry knows just how things work in Cleveland’s front office. The dysfunction, constant meddling from ownership, and overall lack of success. Jimmy Haslam and Paul DePodesta can preach alignment and shared vision all they want, but until they actually do it is just talk.
