Browns can consider BPA in draft

There is a bright side to the complete mismanagement of the Browns roster. This opens up any and all available options in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns have opted to let Joe Schobert walk and appear willing to let Rashard Higgins leave as well. This now creates more holes on the roster and makes fixing them just a bit more difficult. However, there is an upside of sorts. It will allow the team to evaluate all of their options, including positions besides offensive tackle.

With needs all over the roster Cleveland can now keep themselves open to taking just about any position 10th overall in the draft. If for some strange reason Isaiah Simmons is still available or the Browns trade up (extremely unlikely) he could be an option. Perhaps they trade down to accumulate more draft picks (angering the fanbase in the process) and take one of the lesser tackle prospects.

The Browns are currently making a ton of questionable moves. Although they are now able to justify just about any position being drafted in the 1st Round and that is a positive of sorts. Cleveland is in need of good players in multiple positions on both sides of the ball. They are not necessarily in a position to pass on a more talented player for the sake of need. There are other avenues to address clear needs, free agency being the most obvious answer. This front office will still have to supplement the roster through free agency, but big splashes should not be the expectation. They will make acquisitions that are cost effective and not necessarily all that exciting. Free agent signings could alter their draft board come draft day. That is if they actually do anything worthwhile.

Cleveland will have plenty of options available to them when it comes to make their draft selection. The best player available at almost any position should be under consideration and that should keep things interesting until the draft. Almost anything is possible with this current front office.
