Browns acquire Deion Jones from Atlanta

The Cleveland Browns made a trade with Atlanta in an effort to bolster their defense.

It was not long after Sunday’s loss that the Browns knew something had to change on defense. Cleveland agreed to terms with the Falcons to acquire linebacker Deion Jones from Atlanta.

Jones is yet to play this season after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, but is eligible to be designated for return at any time.

It is hard to imagine that Deion Jones will have to wait a long time before returning. The Browns defense is a disaster and Jones is a clear upgrade. Jones has shown to be more than capable of accumulating tackles (137 total last season) even though his performance in pass coverage has been less than stellar. The soon to be 28-year old has allowed 106 completions on 138 targets the last two seasons. Hopefully the Browns will use Jones in a different manner than how he was used in Atlanta and not put him in situations where he is responsible in pass coverage on a regular basis.
