Behold! The feats of Steven Kwan

If you have not taken the time to notice Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan there is no better time than the present. In his first three games Kwan has reached base 12 times, that is two more than any player in over 120 years according to Sarah Langs.

Additionally, Kwan has not missed a pitch he has taken a swing at, just two behind fellow Guardian Amed Rosario.

While early, Kwan does lead all of baseball in Fangraphs War (fWAR).

Steven Kwan reached base six times in Cleveland’s 17-3 win over the Royals Sunday. Kwan went 5-5 and reached base again after being hit by a pitch.

Prior to getting called up the hand-eye coordination and his ability to put bat on ball was highly praised. Through three games it is very apparent why the praise was heaped upon him. Cleveland having Kwan behind Myles Straw and ahead of Jose Ramirez is resulting in some very entertaining at-bats. While his playing style is not following in the path of three true outcomes types of players who have taken the league by storm, Kwan is providing a breath of fresh air for a lineup that has seen these types flail in the past. A correction will come at some point as Kwan’s .800/.857/.1.000 slash line is the literal description of unsustainable, it appears that he has a skill set that will translate and that should make a huge difference moving forward for the Guardians.
