Andy Janovich traded to Browns

The Cleveland Browns continue to build their roster as they have traded a 2021 7th round pick to the Denver Broncos to acquire fullback Andy Janovich.

The Cleveland Browns have embraced the fullback. Cleveland will send a 2021 7th round draft pick to the Denver Broncos for Andy Janovich.

As Mike Klis mentions, Janovich became expendable in Denver due to not needing a fullback. This allowed Cleveland to swoop in and acquire Janovich for pretty much nothing. A 7th round pick is certainly worth it from a value standpoint for Cleveland. The success rate of those picks is not high and if they can acquire a potential starter for that late of a pick you do it 100% of the time.

Once the Cleveland Browns decided to hire Kevin Stefanski as their head coach they needed to address one position that was previously ignored. Fullback. Now that they are incorporating a fullback into their offense it means that they not just one, but two players at the position. Not for competition, but for starter and backup purposes. Cleveland previously signed Johnny Stanton during the offseason, but have added another option into the mix, trading for Andy Janovich Tuesday.

The Browns have options available to them when it comes to their Week 1 fullback. When it comes to making a drastic shift in offensive philosophy it is best to have too many options than not enough. That is exactly what the Browns are doing when it comes to the fullback position.
