After Wednesday’s game was postponed, the 25-year old has been bumped back to start Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees.
Aaron Civale was supposed to start the second and final game against the Chicago White Sox. Due to inclement weather that game was postponed which shifts Civale to starting Thursday against the visiting New York Yankees.
The Yankees come in at 6-11, just half a game better than having the worst record in baseball. Don’t be fooled by the record, the Yankees are capable of getting hot at any moment and it always seems like that moment always comes against Cleveland.
Aaron Civale has faced the Yankees batters before and New York has a good track record collectively. New York is slashing .313/.396/.396 with an OPS of .792 in 21 at-bats against Civale. 2 of the 7 hits allowed by Civale were doubles, the other 5 being all singles. Civale will be hoping for more singles than doubles or other extra-base hits in this start.
New York’s starter will be Domingo German who was a disaster in his only start this season. German allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, 2 of which were home runs in just 3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cleveland will be looking for German to duplicate that lackluster performance from April 4th.
