Aaron Civale exits in 5th inning vs. Cubs

The Cleveland Baseball Club pitcher left in the 5th inning after throwing 72 pitches in the 4-0 win over the Cubs.

While the Cleveland Baseball Club continues to come away with wins through some sort of sorcery, their pitching staff took another hit during Monday night’s 4-0 win over the Cubs. Aaron Civale left in the 5th inning in Chicago after 72 pitches in what was a pretty impressive performance. It was after pitch 72 that Civale looked at his middle finger and was subsequently removed from the game. The Club is still determining the extent of the injury and will have Civale visit the same hand specialist seen by Roberto Perez and Zach Plesac per Zack Meisel.

The fact that Aaron Civale is seeing the same specialist last Perez and Plesac may be a cause for concern since both players are yet to return. Best case scenario for Cleveland and Civale is that this is only a minor injury that requires a short time missed. Worst case scenario the team will be without Civale for a considerable length of time while the team has to try and find even more replacement starters.
