Shane Bieber will start for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they look to sweep the PIttsburgh Pirates and win their sixth straight game.
Cleveland is looking to complete their sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates and they have their best pitcher on the mound which give them a great chance to do so, Shane Bieber. Bieber has a 1.30 ERA and 0.721 WHIP in 34.2 innings this season while striking out 54 batters along the way. Bieber is currently the MLB leader in strikeouts. Bieber’s 14 K/9 is tied with his former teammate Trevor Bauer for the MLB lead.
Shane Bieber has only faced a couple of Pittsburgh batters in the past. Gregory Polanco is 1-2 with a home run, Josh Bell is 1-1, and Colin Moran is 0-1. The new Bieber is certainly capable of continuing his dominant and shutting down a Pittsburgh offense that has been struggling offensively all season.
The Pirates starter is Trevor Williams and he has been able to shut down some of Cleveland’s hitters in the past. Francisco Lindor, Tyler Naquin, Jose Ramirez, and Carlos Santana are a combined 0-10 against Williams. Cesar Hernandez and is 1-4 with 2 runs driven in. Franmil Reyes is 1-4 also, his one hit being a home run. Domingo Santana is 3-6 with a home run as well, easily the best track record against Williams.
