CBS Sports released a collective mock draft and has the Cleveland Browns bypassing a tackle and selecting Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons.
It appears a new trend is coming for the Cleveland Browns. This is the second mock draft in the past week that has Isaiah Simmons going 10th overall to the Cleveland Browns. While this mock draft was a collective effort among various NFL analysts, two mock drafts in a week having the same result at 10 is interesting.
Cleveland does bypass taking a tackle at 10. Of course it is worth mentioning that two tackles go in the two picks ahead of the Browns. The Cardinals taking Tristan Wirfs at eight and the Giants selecting Mekhi Becton. Popular pick Andrew Thomas is still on the board yet Cleveland decides to go with Simmons. Thomas would go on to be selected by the Broncos in a trade up scenario one pick later.
Apparently the person in charge of making the pick for Cleveland was Danny Kannell.
With the 10th pick, Danny Kanell and the Browns go with Clemson ILB Isaiah Simmons, who is remarkably still available.
It seems like Cleveland would have their chance of selecting a tackle in Round 2. Ezra Cleveland would still be available in the second round in this mock and could intrigue the Browns enough to move up and select him if they so choose. Coming away with an electric talent in Isaiah Simmons and a tackle in Round 2 would be a huge win for the Browns.
