Cavaliers fall short in Chicago 108-103

The Cleveland Cavaliers were not able to continue their winning ways as they fall short in the first game of their road trip iin Chicago 108-103.

It seemed like the Cavaliers injuries caught up to them Tuesday night in Chicago. Cleveland only played eight players in their 108-103 loss to Chicago due to Darius Garland, Tristan Thompson, Dante Exum, and Kevin Porter Jr. continuing to miss time.

The Cavs were just unable to hit their three-point shots consistently. Cleveland went 6-24 from deep while Chicago went 12-34. There is no doubt that if the Cavaliers were able to hit a few more that they very well could have come away with a win in Chicago.

Collin Sexton had another spectacular night, finishing with 26 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. Sexton made 12 of 16 field goal attempts and made both free throw attempts. This was the fifth straight game of 25 or more points for Sexton.

Andre Drummond was Cleveland’s second-highest scorer with 21 points. Drummond’s rebounding numbers were surprisingly unspectacular as he only had 7 total. There was one area that Drummond clearly struggled in, turnovers. The Cavs big man had 6 turnovers, the most on the team and the second-highest in the game (Chicago’s Coby White had 9).

Larry Nance Jr. came off the bench and had a productive game. Nance stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. Nance went 6-6 from the field (2-2 3PT) and 2-4 from the free throw line.

Matthew Dellavedova continued to be “Steady Delly”. Dellavedova made all 3 field goal attempts (2-2 3PT) and set up his teammates to finish with 8 assists. Delly is averaging 9.2 assists per game over his last five games and has certainly helped the Cavaliers stay competitive while they have been without some of their key players.

Cleveland will face the Hornets in Charlotte Friday at 7:00 P.M.
