Indians defeat San Francisco Giants 7-1

The Cleveland Indians took on the San Francisco Giants and came away with a comfortable 7-1 victory.

Hitters of note

Oscar Mercado gave the Tribe an early 2-0 lead in the 4th inning before leaving with a wrist injury

Franmil Reyes went 1-3 and scored a run.

Cesar Hernandez was 1-1 with a double and also reached base on a walk.

Domingo Santana’s low batting average got a boost with a 1-3 day.

Bobby Bradley had two hits on the day including an RBI double in the 9th inning. Bradley scored twice in the victory.

Daniel Johnson drove in a run with an RBI triple in the 9th inning. Johnson could be in line for more playing time if Mercado misses some time due to his injury.

Any chance of Yu Chang making the team out of spring appears to be dwindling as each day passes. Chang went 0-3 and has struggled big time in Arizona. Cleveland appears to have better options available to them in Christian Arroyo and Mike Freeman.

Pitchers of note

Zach Plesac pitched 4 innings, allowing 1 one run on 3 hits and striking out 4. The only run allowed by Plesac was a solo homer off the bat of Brandon Belt.

James Karinchak pitched the 5th inning. Karinchak did walk one batter but struck out 3 to keep the Giants off the board.

The Indians will take on the Athletics Friday at 3:05 P.M.
