Trai Turner should interest Browns

It is not a secret that he Cleveland Browns offensive line has issues. At a minimum they need two starters (tackles), although other options could be in play. An upgrade at right guard could also be used and luckily for Cleveland an option has now become available. Carolina’s Trai Turner.

The Panthers are in complete tear down mode and are shopping almost anyone of value in order to get some sort of return. Trai Turner has quite a bit of value. Turner has made five straight Pro Bowl’s and is one of the better offensive lineman available. Even with a down season in 2019, Turner has still been one of the better guards according to Pro Football Focus over the course of his career. Injuries suffered by Turner could have played a factor in his down season.

Trai Turner is 26 years old and is under contract for the next two seasons. Turner will make just under $20 million over the next two seasons in base salary. Considering Cleveland’s issues on the line he is worth the risk. The possibility of Cleveland drafting and starting two rookie offensive tackles this upcoming season is very real. If they are going to go that route it is best to have veteran interior lineman. Turner would certainly qualify as a veteran interior lineman.

What it all comes down to is exactly what the Carolina Panthers are looking for in return. It is very possible that the Browns are not willing to pay the possible high price for an in demand player which would result in the team not acquiring a much needed guard.
