Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo is on his way to Cleveland via loan and right winger Kole Sherwood has been assigned to the Monsters.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have made some roster moves Wednesday. Goaltender Joonas Korpsialo is being loaned to Cleveland on a conditioning assignment and right winger Kole Sherwood has been assigned back to the Monsters.
Joonas Korpisalo’s time in Cleveland may be limited to just a few games. Korpisalo’s return has seemed imminent for quite some time. Korpisalo has been out since late-December due to injury. Columbus will want him to get back up to speed while with the Monsters before returning to the Blue Jackets. That could lead to another move involving a goalie. The clear starter is Elvis Merzlikins and the backup currently is Matiss Kivlenieks. Unless a trade occurs or the team carries three goaltenders, it is very likely that Kivlenieks returns to Cleveland.
Kole Sherwood is also returning to Cleveland. Sherwood was called up to Columbus this past weekend, but did not make an appearance for the Blue Jackets. The return of Sherwood should help the Monsters as they look to bounce back from their current three-game losing streak. Sherwood is tied for third in goals this season with 8 and has 3 assists on the year.
