Cavaliers look to end home losing streak vs Hawks

The Cleveland Cavaliers look to snap their 12-game home losing streak as they take on the Atlanta Hawks in their final game before the All-Star Break.

December 23rd. That is the last time the Cleveland Cavaliers won a game at home. Their opponent? The Atlanta Hawks. Wednesday’s opponent? The Atlanta Hawks. Perhaps the Cavaliers are able to snap their long losing streak at home against the team they last beat at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

This game won’t be be easy. In addition to trying to stop Trae Young, Cleveland has their own set of problems they need to address. Kevin Love is questionable for the game due to Achilles soreness. Considering this is their last game before the All-Star Break, Love could very well sit this game out. That would mean John Beilein needs to figure out how replace Love in the starting lineup.  Does he go with another big in Larry Nance Jr. or does he opt to see how Kevin Porter Jr. plays with the starters? Spreading the floor with Porter could be an intriguing option for a team desperate for consistent scoring.

It would be great to see the Cavs snap their 12 game home and six game overall losing streak prior to the break. Although that is far from a guarantee. Cleveland is coming off their worst home loss in team history and that is adding Andre Drummond and facing a Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers team. It is possible Cleveland is on the wrong end of a large margin at home yet again.

If Cleveland is unable to come away with a win Wednesday, their next chance will come February 24th against the Miami Heat, a game that will provide quite the difficult challenge.

Tip-off at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is at 7:00 P.M.
