The Cleveland Indians have announced that third baseman Jose Ramirez will appear at Tribe Fest, The event will take place Saturday February 1, 2020.
It’s official, Jose Ramirez will be at Tribe Fest. The Cleveland Indians made the announcement via their twitter account Wednesday.
With the confirmation of Jose Ramirez, the left side of the Tribe infield will now be present. Cleveland announced that Francisco Lindor would be in attendance on January 7th. Lindor’s status seemed a bit up in the air prior their announcement due to non-stop trade rumors, but he at least seems likely to remain in Cleveland, for now.
Jose Ramirez did not have the best 2019 season, but he will look to turn things around in 2020. Ramirez was cold as cold can get out of the gate and had an extremely difficult time recovering. Ramirez finished 2019 with a .255/.327/.479 with an OPS of .806 with 56 extra-base hits and 83 runs driven in. The walk numbers for Ramirez took a nosedive, going from 106 in 2018 to 52 in 2019.
Jose Ramirez missed most of September due to a broken hamate bone. While a healthy Ramirez would have provided a boost to the Indians lineup, they still might not have made the playoffs. There just too many injuries to overcome. Ramirez will look to put together a season that ends up with Cleveland back in the playoffs in 2020.
