Hue Jackson needs to be fired

The fact Hue Jackson is still employed by the Cleveland Browns is a miracle. Jackson is 3-35-1 during his time as the Browns head coach. In games decided by six points or less Jackson is 3-14-1. Neither mark is impressive and should be cause for termination. Somehow it is not and Jackson is still running the show, for now.

Hue Jackson is attempting another power grab

Over the years there has been one constant with Hue Jackson as a head coach. The power grab. At some point during a season Jackson will attempt to seize power in one way or another. With his comments during the postgame press conference after Sunday’s loss to Tampa Bay, it appears he found his target.

Play-calling duties that currently belong to Todd Haley.

Yes, Jackson wants to try and take some or all of those duties from Haley. Haley was brought in to run the offense since Jackson is unable to. While the passing offense needs improvement overall, it is better than the last two years with Jackson at the helm. The ground game has been extremely effective, ranking fifth in the NFL this season.

Even looking at the second half of Sunday’s loss shows the promise that Haley’s offense can bring. Cleveland scored 21 points, gained 217 yards, averaged eight yards per play and gained 14 first downs. The first half is a different story, as the Browns struggled to do anything offensively. However that has been the case in just about every game this season.

After Haley was critical of the offensive line and their coach Bob Wylie, Jackson decided to go after Haley. Instead of recognizing that Haley has the Browns offense performing much better than last year, Jackson would rather point fingers at someone doing his previous job better than him.

Hue Jackson is (almost) the worst coach of all-time

While Hue Jackson is worst Cleveland Browns head coach of all-time, he is nearly the worst NFL head coach of all-time. Including his time in Oakland, Jackson is 11-43-1 in his career as a head coach. The only coach with a worse mark who coached at least 40 games is Bert Bell with a record of 10-46-2. Jackson has a real shot at taking the record from Bell. That is if Jackson is employed long enough to break it.

Hue Jackson is reportedly on thin ice

Reports are that the Browns organization are not happy with the results on the field. Benjamin Allbright tweeted the following Sunday night.

The fact of the matter is that this season was supposed to be about wins and losses. For the most part it has been about losses. The last two years, (for some reason), Jackson was given a pass for the results on the field. Now that cannot be said. The team was expected to win games this season and not just a few. Real progress was expected after John Dorsey overhauled the roster. Instead it is the same old story with Jackson at the helm. Loss after loss and Jackson blaming others for his own shortcomings.

If Dorsey and the Haslam’s are truly upset with Jackson as their head coach it is time to fire him. Everyone knows what the end result will be if Jackson continues to coach the team. A season filled with losses and ultimately disappointment. If the Browns organization wants to give hope to their fanbase they need to fire Hue Jackson immediately.

When Jackson is inevitably fired the team will ultimately perform better and more importantly win games. At least they should since Jackson is the worst coach of all-time.
