Kareem Hunt to the NFC East?

Former Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt is drawing interest from a team located in the NFC East according to reports. That team? The Washington Commanders per Josina Anderson.

This could be something or this could be nothing. Preliminary inquires can come to an end relatively quickly if they do not like what they hear. All it takes is one thing and any potential pursuit comes to an abrupt end.

Washington’s running back room is pretty full already with Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson playing big roles in the Commanders offense. There really does not appear to be a path towards playing time barring an injury or some other roster move. Although the presence of Eric Bienemy on Washington’s coaching staff could result in Hunt being worked into the offensive game plan one way or the other. However that is a few steps down a big hypothetical road that may never exist.

Kareem Hunt has not really been mentioned much, if at all since his contract with the Browns came to an end. A combination of a 2022 season that saw his effectiveness drop and his past off the field issues must be playing a role in the overall lack of buzz. Hunt is not anything special at this point in his career, but he has not dropped down to an unplayable level either. Speaking from purely a talent perspective, Hunt is someone who belongs on a NFL roster. But the problem with Hunt is that the on the field performance is not the only factor at play and that is obviously playing a factor in his current free agent status.
