Cavs sign Malik Newman to 10-day hardship deal

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed the current G-League guard to a 10-day deal.

Malik Newman has signed a 10-day hardship deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Newman is the fourth player has signed this season using this exemption.

The signing of Newman comes after Cavaliers guard Darius Garland entered COVID-19 protocols. Cleveland is not a team with a lot of depth at the guard position, so signing Newman on a temporary basis helps them bridge the gap between now and when Garland returns.

Malik Newman is averaging 17.8 points on 47.3% shooting from the field while making 42.3% of his three-point attempts in 13 games for the Charge.
