Cleveland loses to Angels 7-4 despite three homers

The Cleveland Baseball Club hit three home runs, but that was not nearly enough as they lost to the Los Angeles Angels 7-4.

There are plenty of times that when a team hits three home runs that they come out on top. The problem is if they are all solo shots it really makes things a bit more difficult. That was the case for the Cleveland Baseball Club in their 7-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Cleveland managed three solo home runs in the contest coming from Cesar Hernandez, Franmil Reyes, and Harold Ramirez. The fourth run came on a RBI single from Jose Ramirez sandwiched in-between home runs from Hernandez and Reyes. Despite the three home runs and 11 hits, the offense simply could not do enough to keep up with the Angels. Considering that the team is 24th in runs and averages around four runs per game this is hardly surprising.

Sam Hentges drew the start for Cleveland and it was not a good outing. Hentges failed to get out of the 2nd inning as his stuff was not fooling anyone. The Angels managed six runs on five hits with three walks before Hentges exited the game. A three-run home run from Shohei Ohtani on a ball out of the zone was emblematic of just how this performance went for Hentges. The only other runs that came across for Los Angeles came against Cal Quantrill in the 7th who allowed one run on a Jared Walsh RBI double.

Cleveland has a chance to snap their four-game losing streak Tuesday night in Game 2 of their series with the Angels. It will Zach Plesac who gets the call with Andrew Heaney starting for Los Angeles.
