Cavs sign guard Damyean Dotson

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to two-year deal with the 26 year old free agent shooting guard.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Monday afternoon that the Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a deal with Damyean Dotson .The deal is worth $4 million according to Wojnarowski.

A roster spot became open after Cleveland sent Alfonzo McKinnie and Jordan Bell to the Lakers in exchange for JaVale McGee. Cleveland will not need Damyean Dotson to be a prominent player, just someone who can perform if needed. The Cavs could utilize Dotson off the bench if they find themselves playing a smaller bench lineup. Cleveland already has plenty of guards on the roster, but a smaller lineup could be his way to seeing minutes on the court. There is also the possibly of staggering minutes between players such as Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, and Kevin Porter Jr. which could also provide an opening for the 26-year old shooting guard.

Damyean Dotson was a free agent after spending the first three seasons of his career with the New York Knicks. Dotson averaged 7.8 points in 20.1 minutes per game on 41.9% shooting from the field and 36.1% from deep.
