Monday is a much needed off day for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they are looking to rebound from their sixth straight loss.
The Cleveland Baseball Club has been struggling as of late and their off day on Monday might be exactly what they need. Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Twins was their sixth straight and has the team 4.5 games back of the Chicago White Sox and 1 game back of the Twins. Cleveland would currently make the playoffs as one of the final two, but securing one of the top two spots in the division would be a bit more encouraging mainly since it would be the result of better play on the field.
Cleveland is still a team struggling offensively. Their 189 runs scored are the sixth-fewest in all of baseball. The only reason they have been winning games is due to their pitching staff which is why they have a run differential of +31. They have only allowed 158 runs this season, the second-fewest in all of baseball. The only team that has allowed less is St. Louis and they have played 7 fewer games.
As a team Cleveland is slashing .227/.317/.363/.680, not really all that impressive. Cleveland’s 45 home runs are the sixth-fewest in baseball and is a perfect representation of their offensive power outage. If the team is going to make a run in the playoffs this needs to change ASAP.
The team needs to use Monday as a today to refocus and regroup and prepare for their final 13 games. Cleveland will return to play Tuesday in Chicago to take on the Cubs.
