Browns to be without multiple defenders Sunday

The Cleveland Browns will be missing three starting defenders and possibly a fourth for Week 1’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Week 1 was going to be tough for the Cleveland Browns if everyone was healthy. Well, everyone is not healthy as they will be without three key defensive players and possibly a fourth on Sunday.

Kevin Johnson and Greedy Williams are both out and that will put pressure on the Browns defense. Johnson’s absence was expected since he is still working his way back after suffering a lacerated kidney in training camp. Williams was someone who was up in the air all week, but now his status is known and he will be out. MJ Stewart is listed as questionable and if he were to be absent that could result in an absolute field day for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens receivers. Cleveland’s secondary was not going to be that much of an asset with these players in the lineup and without them that unit becomes even more of a liability.

Mack Wilson is also out and that was expected. Wilson playing at al this season was in doubt just a little while ago, but it appears that he will play at some point this season, just not in Week 1.

JC Tretter is listed as questionable and his status for the first two games in the season was up in the air. If Tretter can somehow go on Sunday that would help a Browns offense that needs everyone they can get to try and move the ball against the Ravens defense.

Chris Hubbard will also miss Week 1. While Hubbard is not a starter, Cleveland could find themselves in a bad place if one of their lineman gets hurt or is not performing at an acceptable level.
