Tyler Naquin homered twice and drove in all 5 of Cleveland’s runs in their 5-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
A combination of Tyler Naquin and Triston McKenzie led the Cleveland Baseball Club to victory Wednesday. This was Cleveland’s second straight win over Kansas City after dropping the first game of their series.
Tyler Naquin got things started in the Top of the 2nd inning with a two-run homer driving in Franmil Reyes.
Naquin would add three more runs in the Top of the 9th with this second home run of the game. This home run would make Cleveland grand slam proof and essentially guarantee victory.
Tyler Naquin finished the game 3-5 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored. Franmil Reyes and Francisco Lindor would also go 3-5 with Reyes scoring twice and Lindor once.
The return of Naquin has been a welcome sight for the Cleveland offense. Naquin was on a hot streak before cooling down for a few games. It appears that Naquin is heating up again as he has three home runs in his last four games.
Triston McKenzie got the start for Cleveland and was very impressive. McKenzie pitched 6 innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. This was an improvement on his last outing where he only lasting 4 innings due to high amount of pitches. McKenzie threw less pitches in this outing (81) than his last in St. Louis (84). Phil Maton, Nick Wittgren, and Brad Hand pitched the final three innings and did not allow a hit.
