Elijah Lee signed to Browns active roster

The Cleveland Browns have signed the linebacker from their practice squad to their active roster ahead of Sunday’s game in Los Angeles.

It has been quite the week for Elijah Lee. First Lee’s contract was terminated by the team earlier in the week and then he was signed to the practice squad shortly after. Now the Browns have signed Lee to their active roster prior to Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

With the return of Anthony Walker and the questionable status of Malcolm Smith heading into Sunday’s matchup, having an extra linebacker on the active roster makes sense.

Elijah Lee has appeared in all four games for the Browns this season, primarily on special teams as he has proven to be a useful player in that capacity. There have also been a handful of times that Lee has been on the field for defensive snaps, but it is mostly special teams that he is utilized.

Chris Hubbard to have season-ending surgery

The Cleveland Browns veteran offensive lineman is expected to have season-ending surgery on his triceps.

After already being ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Chargers, it appears that Chris Hubbard will not appear in another game this season. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Hubbard is expected to have season-ending surgery on his triceps.

This is a big blow to the depth to the Cleveland Browns offensive line. Chris Hubbard is a steady backup option that is able to play multiple spots on the line. Add in the fact that Jedrick Wills is yet to play an entire game and that only makes things that much worse. If Wills is unable to go on Sunday it will be either Blake Hance or James Hudson getting the call.

At the end of the day it is good thing that the Browns kept so many offensive lineman on their roster or else they would be facing an even larger problem.

Myles Garrett questionable, expected to play

The Cleveland Browns defensive end has been listed as questionable with a knee/ankle injury, but is expected to play in Los Angeles.

Nagging injuries are not enough to sideline Myles Garrett as he is expected to play on Sunday despite dealing with a knee/ankle injury.

Even a limited Myles Garrett is still better than no Myles Garrett. While some of the other members of the Browns front four have made plays, Garrett is the only one teams game plan for week in and week out.

Chris Hubbard out vs. Chargers

The Cleveland Browns are going to be without their veteran backup offensive lineman in Los Angeles against the Chargers.

In addition to the Browns already ruling out cornerback Greg Newsome, the team has again ruled out veteran tackle Chris Hubbard.

This will be the fourth straight missed game for Chris Hubbard after playing in the Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. With Jedrick Wills also being questionable this is not a good situation for the Browns offensive line considering they are about to take on the impressive Chargers defense headlined by Joey Boss. It could be a long day for Baker Mayfield if Wills is not able to go and they have to look to Blake Hance or James Hudson.
