Indians: Next Man Up in the Infield

The injury bug has hit the Indians hard to start the 2019 season. Francisco Lindor was placed on the 10 day IL because of a right calf muscle strain he sustained before spring training even started. On Wednesday, March 27th, he sprained his left ankle while playing in a minor league rehab game. Second baseman Jason Kipnis also suffered a right calf muscle injury late in spring training and will not start the season with the team. Third baseman Jose Ramirez dodged a bullet late in spring training when he fouled a ball off his left knee. While uncomfortable, Ramirez has been cleared to play. He will be in the starting lineup to start the season. Thank goodness or that would have meant the only part of the Indians star powered infield starting the season would have been Carlos Santana at fir...

Indians sign Cameron Maybin

The Cleveland Indians made another move to help their outfield, signing free agent outfielder Cameron Maybin to a Minor League deal. Cameron Maybin joining the Indians seemed inevitable upon his release from the San Francisco Giants. Cleveland continues to address their outfield in an effort to make the group not as much of a liability. Add in the fact that Maybin once played for the Detroit Tigers and it was all but a guarantee. Maybin is just the latest former Tiger outfielder to sign with Cleveland. The others being Rajai Davis and Austin Jackson. Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com Tweeted the news Friday morning. https://twitter.com/hoynsie/status/1111642476442472453 This is the second signing of this type that the Indians have made this offseason. Cameron Maybin will be joining ...

Cavaliers: Love and Sexton reach milestones in loss

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Collin Sexton and power forward Kevin Love each reached individual milestones in Thursday's loss to the Spurs. Thursday night was another Cleveland Cavaliers loss (good news for the Tank for Zion crowd). A 116-110 loss to San Antonio on the road brings their record to 19-57 on the year with six games remaining. Even though Cleveland lost yet again, there are two bright spots that occurred. Milestones for Kevin Love and Collin Sexton. Kevin Love needed 17 points to make NBA history and was able to score 18. Love went 7-13 from the field including 2-4 from three-point range and making both free throw attempts. With this scoring effort, Love is now the eighth player with 12,000 points, 7,000 rebounds and 1,000 three-pointers made. Love is in some elite c...

Indians just need to weather the storm

The Cleveland Indians need to stay at or around .500 during the time they are without infielders Francisco Lindor and Jason Kipnis. The beginning of the year will not pretty offensively for the Cleveland Indians. Being without both Francisco Lindor and Jason Kipnis will make things much more difficult for the Tribe. Cleveland should be able to keep themselves afloat while they are without two key bats in their lineup. If the Indians can stay at or around .500 during this time it will go a long way. While this goal is not the most difficult, it is the most realistic due to the rather unimposing lineup without Lindor and Kipnis. Through April 17th Cleveland does not face a playoff team from last season. That is 18 games against sub-par competition. Considering the Indians will not hav...
