Tua declaring for draft helps Browns

Alabama’s dynamic quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. This will help the Cleveland Browns come April.

The Cleveland Browns got some help when it comes to their plans in the 2020 NFL Draft and they didn’t even have to do anything. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa declared for the draft Monday.

Tua declaring means that players at positions of need will be pushed back just one more spot come draft day. There are multiple teams that could be looking to draft a quarterback ahead of Cleveland. Cincinnati, Miami, Los Angeles Chargers, and Carolina could be looking at quarterbacks, some more likely than others. Tua, in addition to Joe Burrow and Justin Hebert could find themselves picked in the Top-10. Adding Tua to the mix means that some offensive tackle prospects that would not have been available to the Browns are now in play. At least one of Andrew Thomas, Jedrick Wills Jr. and Tristan Wirfs should be on the board when the Browns pick. Cleveland could even double-down and take tackles with their first two picks if they wanted. Either way, the tackle position has to be upgraded.

What Cleveland got from their tackles this season was an absolute disaster. Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard were undeniably bad and are highly unlikely to return next season. Robinson is due to become a free agent and Hubbard’s contract can be opted out of. The Browns more than likely to take that out and move on from Hubbard.

The new head coach and general manger structure will without a doubt look to upgrade their tackles. They know that they cannot go into another season with a patchwork offensive line. The new head coach will want to make sure that Baker Mayfield is protected adequately and their new offensive scheme can run without anything holding them back.

Will the new coach be Josh McDaniels? They are free to hire him now.

The Browns were saved by the Dallas Cowboys as they hired Mike McCarthy. This could lead to them potentially hiring Josh McDaniels sooner rather than later. List to Monday’s This Is Believeland Podcast for more.
