Shane Bieber to start for Cleveland vs. Detroit

Shane Bieber draws the start for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they take on the Detroit Tigers looking to snap their eight game losing streak.

The Cleveland Baseball Club is in desperate need for a win. After losing their eighth game in a row Shane Bieber will take the mound looking to shut down the Tigers offense and hopefully leading to a Cleveland victory.

Shane Bieber has a good track record when facing the Detroit Tigers in the past. Bieber has held the Tigers to a .213/.258/.284/.542 slash line with 18 strikeouts. Miguel Cabrera is 2-9 with 3 strikeouts, Jeimer Candelario is 2-12 with 6 strikeouts, Niko Goodrum is 1-10 with 5 strikeouts, Victor Reyes is 0-5 with 2 strikeouts, and Willi Castro is 0-3 with 1 strikeout. Austin Romine and Jorge Bonifacio are both 1-2, but Bonifacio has a double.

Detroit will be starting Casey Mize who has not had a great beginning to his career. In his first five starts Mize has a 5.85 ERA, 1.400 WHIP, and 9.5 K/9. Mize made his longest start last Friday in a 4-3 loss to the White Sox, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit in 5.1 innings. Hopefully Cleveland can take advantage of a young starter and get back into the win column.
