Monsters

Road trip continues for Monsters

The road trip continues for the Cleveland Monsters. Cleveland has back-to-back games in two different cities, Syracuse and Rochester. This is after being idle since Sunday’s loss in Chicago. First up? The Syracuse Crunch.

At Syracuse

Cleveland has faced Syracuse three times this season, all losses. The Crunch hold a 12-6 lead in goal differential in their previous matchups. The first two matchups were at home while their last was at Syracuse.

The Crunch are 4-4-0-2 in their past 10 games. Syracuse’s leader in points, goals, and assists is Alex Barre-Boulet. Boulet has 46 points this season (26 goals,20 assists). Gemel Smith is tied for the team lead in assists with 20.

Scott Wedgewood and Spencer Martin have seen the most time in net for the Crunch, 23 and 28 games respectively. Wedgewood holds a slight advantage in GAA (3.00-3.25) and save percentage (.891-.889) over Martin.

At Rochester

The last time the Monsters and Americans faced each other is a rather ugly performance at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Rochester was clearly the better team that night and Cleveland will be looking for some revenge this time around.

Jean-Sebastien Dea leads the Americans in points currently with 35 (15 goals, 20 assists) in 48 games this season. Dea is Syracuse’s leader in goals this season. Zach Redmond leads the team in assists with 25 in 50 games.

The Americans have two goaltenders who have been pretty tough to score against this season. Jonas Johansson has a GAA of 2.19 and Andrew Hammond’s is 2.59. Both goalies have impressive save percentages (.925 and .905 respectively). This may lead to Cleveland having a tough time finding the back of the net in Saturday’s game.
