Offense sputters for Cavaliers in New York

It was a rough night in New York for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they found themselves on the losing end of a 102-81 final score.

There are some games where nothing seems to go right for a team, this was the case for the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night. The Cavs had seven of their 10 players score in single digits including four with 4 points or less. It was just a game where they could not find a way to score consistently.

Cleveland only managed 33 points in the first half while New York scored 47. Neither team was all that impressive through the first two quarters, but that changed in the second half. The Knicks again outscored the Cavaliers, this time by a seven-point margin and would inevitably lead to their 21-point loss.

What the game really came down to was poor shooting for the Cavs. Cleveland made 39 of 84 field goal attempts for a shooting percentage of 34.5, also known as awful. There simply is no way to win a game when a team is shooting that poorly overall and Friday night was no exception.

Darius Garland was the best player on the floor for the Cavs Friday and his 24 points were a team high. Garland also had 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist, but did turn the ball over 4 times, also a team high.

Collin Sexton was the second-highest scorer for the Cavaliers, but it did not come easy. Sexton went 6-18 from the floor, missed all four three-pointers , and made 5 of 6 free throw attempts.

The third and final player to crack the 10-point mark for Cleveland was Jarrett Allen. Allen nearly had a double-double off the bench with 15 points and 9 rebounds in 26 minutes of play.

Cleveland will look for a better result Sunday as they travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves at 8:00 P.M.
