Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. is in hot water

A warrant for the arrest of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been obtained by the New Orleans Police Department.

Odell Beckham Jr. was already in trouble for handing out money following LSU’s National Championship game victory. A new issue has come to light resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

As seen in the video, Beckham slaps the police officer on the butt and appears to say something when the officer turns around. The police officer was instructing the LSU football team that smoking is not permitted inside the building.

Is this a bit of an overreaction? Yeah, but Odell should know better. You do not touch a police officer. He has to know that there is nothing good that was going to come out of doing what he did.

The Cleveland Browns issued a statement following the report of the arrest warrant being issued.
Josina Anderson provided this update about Odell and his legal team.

Beckham was already going to have his hands full with the NCAA. Beckham handed out money to LSU players after the game while still on the field. The money is real. Initial reports indicated that the money was fake, but they were inaccurate.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow confirmed that the money was real on Wednesday’s episode of Pardon My Take.

Cleveland is already going to have make business decisions in regards to Beckahm’s status on the team. Now there is a possible legal issue that must be addressed. That is if charges are pursued by the police department and the officer Beckham slapped in the video. There is also the likely possibility that the NFL steps in and issues a punishment that they find fitting.

The Browns already appear set to let Adam Henry leave. That’s one sign that Beckham could be on the move. Another is his large contract. Cleveland’s new regime could opt to not want to be on the hook for that money given these recent developments The guy who acquired Beckham is no longer in the organization (John Dorsey). Those currently in charge have no real connection to Odell Beckham Jr. and a trade is not going to be out of the question.

Update

The New Orleans Police Department confirmed that Beckham did not smack a officer. The man in the video is a security guard. Either way, this is not something that Beckham should have done.
