Monsters take on Texas Stars at home

The Cleveland Monsters begin a three game in four day series at home as they host the Texas Stars.

Last time out it was not pretty for the Cleveland Monsters as they were on the wrong side of 5-2 final score against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Cleveland is looking to put that behind them as they take on the Texas Stars three times in the next four days. The Monsters will travel to Texas in April to play the second half of the three games in four days series between both teams.

Texas comes in as the third place team in the AHL Central, one place above the Monsters. The Stars have 18 points on the season with a 8-4-2 record in 14 games. For comparison Cleveland has 9 points with a 4-4-1 record.

Two players top the points list for Texas this season, Adam Mascherin and Riley Damiaini with 17 points each. Mascherin is first in goals with 8 while Damiaini is tied for second with Anthony Louis with 6. Damiaini leads in assists with 11 and Mascherin checks in at second with 9. When it comes to stopping the Stars in the offensive zone, it is about limiting these two payers as much as possible.

Texas has relatively split the goaltending duties this season as Tomas Sholl has 7 appearances and Colton Point has 6. Sholl has the edge in GAA with 2.80, save percentage 0.907. and record 4-1-1. Meanwhile Point has a 3.48 GAA, 0.891 save percentage, and 3-2-1 record. Even when there is a bit of drop off in net the Stars still find a way to win.

The game between the Monsters and Stars is expected to start at 7:00 P.M.
