Mekhi Becton to Browns in CBS mock draft

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports released his latest mock draft and has the Cleveland Browns selecting Louisville tackle Mekhi Becton.

Ryan Wilson has identified one of the major issues that the Cleveland Browns currently have, left tackle. Wilson has Cleveland selecting Mekhi Becton 10th overall in his most recent mock draft.

Wilson’s reasoning appears below.

Mekhi Becton, OL, Louisville: At 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds, Becton is a mountain of a man but he moves like someone who weighs more like 260, which pairs nicely with his footwork, balance and strength. The Browns have myriad problems and fixing the offensive line is as good a place as any to start. Ultimately, this team’s success comes down to Baker Mayfield, but protecting him might make being successful a lot easier.

Yes, Mekhi Becton is huge. Becton’s size and movement are very appealing when watching him play. Imagining someone like Becton in Kevin Stefanski’s offense which requires a lot of offensive line movement is very intriguing.

The only problem is that he is far from a finished product at this point and that can be an issue. Becton’s needs some serious work when it comes to blocking and lining him up as the left tackle to protect Baker Mayfield could become problematic. Even though Andrew Berry recently said that “tackles are tackles” and this is a true statement, it doesn’t matter if the tackle struggles when blocking.

Mekhi Becton is a polarizing prospect, but Cleveland may better off selecting the tackle who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take at 14th overall (Andrew Thomas).
