James Karinchak finishes 6th in AL Rookie of the Year

The Cleveland Baseball Club reliever received five third place votes and finished sixth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Cleveland Baseball Club reliever James Karinchak was impressive during his rookie season and was up for American League Rookie of the Year. Karinchak received five third place votes and ended up finishing sixth overall.

James Karinchak appeared in 27 games for Cleveland in 2020, compiling a 2.67 ERA and 1.111 WHIP. The most impressive stat from Karinchak was his 17.7 K/9 ratio. Karincak was a strikeout machine and became a regular fixture on the Pitching Ninja Twitter account. Karinchak made batters look foolish on a regular basis and this should continue to be the case moving forward.

With the Cleveland Baseball Club moving on from Brad Hand, James Karinchak could be in line to replace him as their closer. That is if they opt to go with just one option as their closer. Suspended reliever Emmanuel Clase could also be in the mix in a closer by committee type scenario.
