Indians Script I logo is back, sort of

The Cleveland Indians will have another option available for players to wear off the field and during press conferences with the Script I hat.

The “Script I” is back! Well, kind of. The Cleveland Indians Script I logo has made a return of sorts. Classified as part of the “Clubhouse Collection” from New Era, the Tribe will have another hat to wear off the field, in the clubhouse, and during press conferences.

This is just another hat to add to the mix for Cleveland to wear, just not during a game. The Indians have been in what can be classified as logo purgatory for some now. The Block C may have been an early logo for the franchise, but it is such a drastic change from their former primary logo. The Block C is considered boring. Script I is slightly less boring. Even a variety of color combinations cannot save these logos from their boring state. Although, it is worth noting that incorporating the Script I from the name Indians should calm some people down that are worried about the team name changing.

To the dismay of plenty of Indians fans, the team had to distance itself from the Chief Wahoo logo. Merchandise with Chief Wahoo’s likeness is still available for purchase, but the team will not be wearing the logo anytime soon. The Chief was one of few remaining primary logos that was not a letter or team name.

The only thing Cleveland can do at this point is use a variety of logos. The Block C and Script I are far from exciting. Even mixing in the old Crooked C wouldn’t be a bad idea. Until the team can put together a logo that is not just a letter they need to explore all of their options. Well, as long as they do not revert back to Chief Wahoo. This is an option that appears to be off the table.
