Collin Sexton scores 21 in Rising Stars Game

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton scored 23 points for the United States in Friday night’s victory in the Rising Stars Game.

Perhaps those in charge of selecting the rosters for the Rising Stars Game have recognized they originally made a mistake. Collin Sexton was left off the roster, as was Kevin Porter Jr. and Darius Garland. Sexton was an injury replacement for Miami’s Tyler Herro. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard was part of a 151-131 victory over Team World Friday.

Collin Sexton scored 21 points on 9-14 shooting in 20 minutes. Sexton showed off his range by making three of his six attempts from three-point range. Shooting is not the only area where Young Bull excelled. Sexton also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal on the night.

Sexton was part of a second group of players who participated Friday who were able to come back in the second half. The group consisting of Jaren Jackson Jr., Zion Williamson, Trae Young, Ja Morant, and Kendrick Nunn found themselves down 81-71 at the half. Collin Sexton was the second-leading scorer for the United States team. Eric Paschall led the team with 23 points in the second half. Miles Bridges was the only other player to exceed 20 points in the game for the United States.

Sexton will hope this performance will carry over into the regular season. The Cavaliers will look turn things around over the final 28 games.
