Cleveland splits series with 4-2 victory
The Cleveland Baseball Club was able to split their four-game series against the Chicago White Sox with Thursday’s 4-2 win.
After being no-hit the night before, the Cleveland Baseball Club needed a rebound performance in the worst way. Thursday’s afternoon matchup with the Chicago White Sox provided the bounce back they needed as they ended up with 8 hits leading to 4 runs in their two-run victory.
Aaron Civale was the Cleveland starter, pitching significantly better than Zach Plesac in the previous game. Civale would allow only 1 run on 5 hits in addition to striking out 4 in 6 innings of work.
Cleveland found themselves down 1-0 early and it took a little bit for the team to respond, but they did in a big way. Jose Ramirez came up to bat in the 6th and promptly launched a two-run homer to give Cleveland the lead. Two more runs would come across in the 7th and 8th innings as Cleveland’s lead grew to three.
Emmanuel Clase would come on in the 9th to end the game and it was not an easy inning. Clase would allow a leadoff triple to Luis Robert who would come around to score on an error with the run being ruled unearned. An Adam Eaton fly out would end the game with the tying run on base to secure the Cleveland win.
It wasn’t all smiles as White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton got into an altercation with Andres Gimenez in the 1st inning. Eaton apparently was not a fan of the tag placed on him as he was thrown out at second base. The benches would clear temporarily with order being restored and the game continuing.
