Cleveland rotation is getting things done

The trio of Shane Bieber, Mike Clevinger, and Carlos Carrasco have been fantastic in their first starts for the Cleveland Baseball Club.

Coming into the season everyone knew that the strength of the Cleveland Baseball Club was the starting rotation. Through the first three games that seems to be holding up as they have been excellent.

That’s 4 runs allowed in 19 innings for those wondering. An extremely impressive number considering they were facing a Royals team that can give most teams headaches. A combination of contact and speed can make even the best pitchers in baseball falter. Cleveland was able to stifle them for the most part and limit the Royals damage.

Nearly half of the strikeouts came from Shane Bieber’s Opening Day start (14) and Carlos Carrasco added 10 to his total in Sunday’s 9-2 win. The only blemish (if you can call it that) is Clevinger only striking out six and allowing two runs in a loss on Saturday. Of course Clev will bounce back and not only strike out more, but allow less runs.

Next up are Aaron Civale and Zach Plesac. The hope is that they can replicate and continue the success of the top three arms in their rotation when they take on the White Sox. Both pitchers had success last season there is not a reason they cannot keep things going in 2020.
