Cleveland looks to start new win streak vs Detroit

The Cleveland Baseball Club is looking to start a new winning streak against the Detroit Tigers after a disappointing 10-5 loss Friday.

Triston McKenzie will take the mound for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they look to rebound from their win streak snapping loss Friday. McKenzie will be making his long awaited MLB debut and he will square off against Matthew Boyd.

Matthew Boyd has not had a good start to this season. Boyd has allowed 25 runs in 23.1 innings this season, including 8 home runs. This has led to a subpar 9.64 ERA and 1.886 WHIP. The once promising Tigers pitcher has been quite the disappointment this season. Perhaps facing Matthew Boyd could help jumpstart their anemic offense.

Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor has quite the track record against Boyd. Lindor is 9-27 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs, this matchup could be exactly what he needs to get back into the groove. Over his last 10 games Lindor is slashing .233/.313/.349 with a .661 OPS. 3 of Lindor’s 10 hits over this span have been for extra-bases (2 doubles, 1 home run). The problem is that more is expected out of someone the caliber of Lindor.

Another player in need of a turnaround at the plate is Jose Ramirez. Ramirez has struggled during the month of August with a .153/.253/.347/.600 slash line. The only bright side is 7 of his 11 hits were of the extra-base variety (3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs). Ramirez is 7-27 (1 triple, 2 home runs) in his career against Boyd and this could be the springboard to producing at the plate at the level Cleveland needs.

Jordan Luplow is another player who has found success against Matthew Boyd. Luplow is known for crushing left-handers and Boyd is no exception with 2 home runs in 9 at-bats.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:10 P.M.
