Cavs sign Sheldon Mac to 10-day contract

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed guard Sheldon Mac to a 10-day contract.

Sheldon Mac has signed a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers per Spencer Davies.

As Davies mentioned in his tweet, the last time Sheldon Mac appeared in an NBA game was the 2016-17 season. Sheldon Mac appeared in 30 games with the Wizards, averaging 3 points per game in limited playing time.

Mac is in the process of working his way back to the NBA, spending this season with the Canton Charge. Mac has appeared in 40 games for the Charge this season. The 27-year old guard is averaging 15.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 26.9 minutes per game this season.

The decision give Mac the 10-day contract could have to do with the lengthy list of Cavaliers players dealing with injuries at this moment in time. To be blunt, the Cavs need bodies. Kevin Porter Jr. is the most recent player to land on the injury report. Alfonzo McKinnie, Dante Exum, Tristan Thompson, Dean Wade, Darius Garland, and Andre Drummond have appeared on Cleveland’s injury report as recent as Friday. Mac may not get much playing time Cleveland, but the Cavs need the option if needed.
