Cavaliers unable to defeat Spurs

The Cleveland Cavaliers struggled offensively and predictably lost at home to the San Antonio Spurs Sunday by a score of 112-90.

Cleveland was no match for San Antonio Sunday as the Cavaliers lost yet again. Cleveland struggled to shoot in the contest, only making 39.7% of their field goal attempts compared to San Antonio’s 52.4%. An almost 13% difference in this area can make a huge difference on the scoreboard and it did in this case.

Cleveland was out-rebounded in the contest 49 to 34. San Antonio also had more assists than Cleveland 27 to 16. In addition to the poor shooting performance, being outperformed in these two areas is not a recipe for success.

Cleveland’s leading scorers in the contest were Collin Sexton and Brandon Knight, both had 16 points. The duo combined to go 11-27 from the field including 3-10 from three.

Ante Zizic made five of six field goal attempts and four of five shots from the free throw line, totaling 14 points. Zizic was also able to grab six rebounds, four of which were offensive.

Kevin Love came off the bench allowing Channing Frye to get the start in his second to last NBA game. Frye played 16 minutes and made the Cavaliers first points of the game, a three-pointer to put Cleveland up 3-0 early. Love played 13 minutes, finishing with five points and four boards.

Cedi Osman made four of 10 attempts and scored 12 points for the Cavaliers. Osman made one of four shots from deep and three of four from the charity stripe.

Larry Nance Jr. ended up with his third straight double-double. Nance finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals in 33 minutes.

The Cavaliers have one more game left in the season, a matchup with the Charlotte Hornets Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.
