Cavaliers finally snap losing streak

The Cleveland Cavaliers came away with the narrowest of victories as they snapped their double-digit losing streak against the Atlanta Hawks.

Coming into Tuesday’s game the Cleveland Cavaliers had lost 10-straight games and were playing some of the worst basketball in the league. Things went back and forth for the majority of the game with both Cleveland and the Atlanta Hawks going on impressive runs. Thanks to a clutch dunk from Lamar Stevens off a pass from Collin Sexton, the Cavs were able to win for the first time in quite some time 112-111.

Stevens finished with 8 points on 4-5 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench. As the above game-winning dunk shows it is not the quantity of the points from Stevens, it is the quality and the Cavaliers got both quality points and minutes.

The assist from Sexton on the game-winner was his fifth of the game. Sexton made more of an impact in the scoring department as he scored a game-high 29 points on 9-16 from the field. Young Bull made 3 of 5 attempts from deep and 8 of his 10 free throw attempts. The Cavs third year guard did have some foul trouble as his five fouls were an issue throughout the game.

Darius Garland, the other half of SexLand, also had an impactful performance. Garland was second on the team in scoring, but led the team in assists with 8. While he made less than 50% of shots, it was his passing ability which made a huge difference for the Cavaliers.

To the surprise of absolutely no one Jarrett Allen led the Cavs in rebounds with 14 while adding 13 points of his own. Allen has played well since being inserted into the starting lineup and it appears the Cavaliers have their center of the future.

Cleveland can turn their one win into a two-game winning streak Wednesday as they host the Houston Rockets at 7:30 P.M.
