Cavaliers edge out Spurs in OT
The Cleveland Cavaliers nearly won in regulation against the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio’s Derrick White made a shot with 1 second remaining to force overtime. It was in that period that the Cavaliers put together a nice group effort to come away with a 132-129 overtime win.
A lot of free throw attempts
The Cavaliers might want to consider themselves lucky with this win. Cleveland turned the ball over 18 times compared to only nine for San Antonio. This usually does not lead to wins, but the Cavs somehow managed a victory.
The NBA might want to look into the officiating in this one. The Cavs and Spurs combined to attempts 81 free throws. 81! That’s absurd. There absolutely no reason for this many free throw attempts.
Double-doubles for the Cavaliers big men
With the exception of Tristan Thompson who left with an eye injury, all the Cavs big men finished with a double-double.
Andre Drummond 28 points, 17 rebounds
Kevin Love 14 points, 18 rebounds
Larry Nance Jr. 19 points, 10 rebounds
Drummond finished with the most points in the game and Love has the most rebounds.
Collin Sexton keeps on going
Young Bull finished with the second-highest point total in the game (26). Sexton was 8-19 from the field and made 9 of 11 free throw attempts. Sunday’s 26 point outing makes it four straight games of 25 or more points and six of his last seven. This includes a career-high 41 points against the Celtics.
Steady Delly
Matthew Dellavedova is thriving as the Cavs primary point guard while Darius Garland remains out. Delly also had a double-double (14 points, 11 assists). Over his last four games Dellavedova has a 38-8 assist-turnover ratio. Although eight of his turnovers have come in the past two games (four each).
