Cavaliers Earned Edition jersey set for debut

The Cleveland Cavaliers Earned Edition jersey will debut Wednesday against Miami

As an added bonus from making the playoffs last season select NBA teams are playing with a special Earned Edition jersey. The Cleveland Cavaliers will debut their new look at home on Wednesday January 1st. The Cavaliers will take on the visiting Miami Heat.

The colors used in this uniform are much more subdued when compared to their original City Edition uniforms. Although the design of the uniform is exactly the same.

The two-toned jersey and shorts return and still leaves a lot to be desired. The main issue that is still prevalent is the difference in font style. Script Cleveland and the numbers on the front do not match. Overall it just looks awkward. Speaking of the script Cleveland portion of it, it still is at a different angle than the color separation in the middle of the jersey. The multiple angles on the jersey will always look a bit off.

It is understandable wanting to change the colors used from a more “water oriented” base to an “ice based” one. That is at least the explanation used in the unveiling of the Earned Edition jersey. The City Edition focused on the water in Lake Erie, apparently the focus for the Earned Edition is that water becoming ice. All in all it is an extremely convoluted way to unveil a jersey design and the colors used in said design.

Is the Cavaliers Earned Edition jersey perfect? Far from it. At best it is acceptable and just another option for the team to wear to distract from what has been a trying season.
