Cavaliers blown out by Clippers

The Kevin Love-less Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 132-108

Taking on a playoff team like the Clippers was not a good prospect for the Cavaliers to begin with. Taking them on without Kevin Love was a near impossible task. Kevin Love missed the game due to shoulder soreness. The Cavaliers lost in Los Angeles by 24 points, a result that is not all that surprising.

Surprisingly Cleveland and Los Angeles were tied after the first quarter at 29. Less of a surprise was the second quarter, where the Clippers outscored the Cavaliers 36-23. Cleveland came back a bit in the third, outscoring Los Angeles by three points, 31-28. The final quarter was a disaster as Cleveland was outscored 39-25 as Los Angeles put the game away.

It is tough to win games when allowing an opponent to make 62.4% of their shots from the field. That is just what the Clippers did Saturday. Cleveland only managed to make 44.6% of their field goal attempts. The eye-opening statistic to look at is Cleveland’s inefficiency from deep. Cleveland only made three of 23 three-pointers, that is not the way to win a game in the modern NBA.

Jordan Clarkson led Cleveland with 26 points off the bench in 24 minutes.. Clarkson made 11-16 shots from the field, missing both attempts from deep. Clarkson also made all four of his free throw attempts.

Collin Sexton made seven of 17 shots and finished with 21 points. Sexton only made one three-pointer in five attempts and made all six of his free throw attempts. Sexton rounded out his performance with three rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Cedi Osman added 19 points in 33 minutes on 5-13 shooting. Osman made two of six three-pointers and seven of nine free throw attempts. Osman also finished with five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

The Cavaliers travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns in their next game Monday at 10:00 P.M.
