Browns sign Matthew McCrane to practice squad

The Cleveland Browns signed Matthew McCrane to their practice squad Tuesday.

Adding an insurance policy in case Cody Parkey falters is a smart move by the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland signed Matthew McCrane to their practice squad, a spot that Parkey once held until the team moved on from Austin Seibert. McCrane posted a picture and quote from legendary Browns kicker Phil Dawson to his Instagram profile.

Matthew McCrane was undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft and has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals (twice), Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Guardians of the XFL. McCrane made 66.7% of his field goal attempts (8-12) and all of his extra-point attempts (9) during his only year of NFL action (2018).
