Browns picks in three-round mock draft

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports put together a three-round mock draft which has the Cleveland Browns making some interesting selections.

10. Mekhi Becton OT Louisville

With their first pick Wilson has the Browns selecting Mekhi Becton out of Louisville.

At 6-7, 360 pounds, Becton is a mountain of a man, but he moves like someone who weighs more like 260, which pairs nicely with his footwork, balance and strength. The Browns have myriad problems and fixing the offensive line is as good a place as any to start. Ultimately, this team’s success comes down to Baker Mayfield, but protecting him might make that a lot easier.

Logic is solid, but it really comes down to preference and situation. Becton still needs some work, but may be a great selection in time. Some do believe that the Browns may take Andrew Thomas due to him being perceived as more of a finished product. Thomas goes one pick later to the Jets in this mock draft.

41. Jeremy Chinn S Southern Illinois

The Browns need a safety and get one in Round 2. Wilson has Cleveland selecting Jeremy Chinn to add to the mix of Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo.

Chinn is one of the most athletic players in this class and he can play safety or linebacker.

Wilson mentions Chinn as a linebacker, but Cleveland would not be drafting him to play there. It would be about finding a longterm solution in the back of their secondary.

74. Akeem Davis-Gaither LB Appalachian State

Now this is someone who can play linebacker, Appalachian State’s Akeem Davis-Gaither.

Davis-Gaither shows up all over the field. He’s undersized for an NFL linebacker, but he’s a hybrid-type player who can do a lot of different things.

Cleveland needs linebackers since they let Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey leaves and the only move they have made is adding B.J. Goodson. The Browns cannot head into 2020 with their current group.

97. Leki Fotu DL Utah

The Browns have two good defensive tackles, but need to address the position past this season.

The Browns have few needs on defense, but adding depth at interior D-line is one of them.

Selecting Leki Fotu would be a quality addition to the rotation with Larry Ogunhobi and Sheldon Richardson for the time being, possibly replacing Richardson as early as next season.
