Browns have chance for AFC North crown

So you’re saying there’s a chance? The Cleveland Browns have a small chance of winning the AFC North. This is due to a combination of Cleveland continuing to play well while the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost three straight games. ESPN’s Jake Trotter tweeted out the Browns chances at winning the division and according to ESPN FPI they have a 10.7% chance.

As Trotter also mentions there are two key factors that come into play here. The Browns need to win out and the Steelers must lose out. Cleveland faces the Jets this week while Pittsburgh takes on the Colts. Both games could end up in the Browns favor setting up a winner take all scenario in Week 17. It was not too long ago that it appeared that the Steelers had a virtual lock on the division which makes this potential outcome so intriguing.

Of course it is important not to put the cart before the horse here. The Browns can’t overlook the Jets considering they surprised the Rams this past week and came away with a victory. In regards to the Steelers, they are capable of beating the Colts, although their performance the past three weeks does not necessarily indicate that. Cleveland just needs to control what they can control and hope things fall their way. If they have a chance to win the division in Week 17, great. If not, they still have a great chance at making the postseason.
