Browns draft Thomas in Bucky Brooks’ mock

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks has the Cleveland Browns selecting Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas with the 10th overall pick.

The theme of many mock drafts this offseason? The Cleveland Browns drafting an offensive tackle at 10. Bucky Brooks’ most recent mock draft is no different. Brooks has the Browns drafting Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas 10th overall.

Here is the reasoning from Brooks on the selection.

The Browns need another rock-solid edge blocker in the starting lineup.

Short, sweet, and right to the point. No real need to elaborate any further. The Cleveland offensive line was atrocious last season and pretty much everyone knows it. Improving that area must be the focus of the draft and free agency. Cleveland has been tied to several offensive lineman in free agency, but that should not necessarily prevent them from drafting a tackle at 10.

Brooks has two tackles being selected ahead of Thomas. The New York Giants selecting Alabama’s Jedrick Wills fourth overall and the Arizona Cardinals taking Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs at eight.

Only two more tackles are drafted in the first round in this mock. Mekhi Becton out of Louisville going one pick after Thomas to the New York Jets at 11. The other? The Tennessee Titans drafting USC’s Austin Jackson with the 29th pick.

  1. Of all the OL in this draft the Jets can take Mekhi Becton is the worst fit. Doesnt fit their system and your talking using the 1th pick in the draft on a fat RT? I mean Gase and his OL coach want slim mobile guys that fit their system. They arent changing how they run an OL to over draft a RT. Im not sure I even get the pick there are 5 other OL in this draft that are 2-3 round guys that I think better suit the Jets needs. LT Josh Jones is a much better fit but Id look to trade down or take a #1 WR if I were the GM here. They can grab OL to groom in this draft in the 2-3 and 4th rounds. The talent draft isnt that great given what you have left on the board. I mean your seriously telling mean your passing on 3 stud WRs to grab a project RT that doesnt fit the system? Not getting it.
